Speak Percussion presents Australian premieres of works by Cathy Van Eck (NL),  Marianthi Papalexandri-Alexandri (GR) and Andreas E. Frank (DE) for electronics, bespoke instruments and simple every day objects – a plant, a hairdryer, a quartet of windshield wiper motors, as well as the world premiere of Sydney-based composer Josephine Macken’s (AU) new trio. An enthralling event that pushes the bounds of musical philosophies and unexpected sound worlds.

Speak Percussion tours two works to the United Kingdom in November 2022.

Set amongst the sweet lanolin infused surrounds of the old Rosemount shed, Speak Percussion will activate the site through a participatory percussion event.

Taking shearing and the unique and weathered properties of the shed as both the site and sound for the work, this performance piece uses vibration, attack and repetitive percussive movements to conjure a sound harking from site-specific practices of percussionists and sheep shearers.

A triptych featuring leading compositional voices in the experimental and conceptual music world, responding to all-too-familiar tropes of the live music and visuals format.
