Speak Percussion are delighted to announce welcome Aaron Wyatt to the team as Artist in Residence. Aaron brings with him a wealth of experience and insight as a maker, interpreter and leader. Over the coming years, Aaron will be involved in a spectrum of activities including the creation of a major new work for Speak Percussion that he will both compose and perform in.
Set amongst the sweet lanolin infused surrounds of the old Rosemount shed, Speak Percussion will activate the site through a participatory percussion event.
Taking shearing and the unique and weathered properties of the shed as both the site and sound for the work, this performance piece uses vibration, attack and repetitive percussive movements to conjure a sound harking from site-specific practices of percussionists and sheep shearers.
A triptych featuring leading compositional voices in the experimental and conceptual music world, responding to all-too-familiar tropes of the live music and visuals format.
“Scream Star is many things: absurd and funny, moving and creative, precise and demanding. It is, in short, seriously good music-making. It is performance art and theatre, and new music-making at its finest.” – Limelight
